History
-
The Hertfordshire Association of Cricket Officials (‘Association’) also known as ‘HACO’ was formed in 1963 as the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Umpires (HSCU) and was affiliated to the National body, the Association of Cricket Umpires (ACU).
-
In 1988, scorers were welcomed into the organisation and the name was changed to the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Umpires & Scorers (HSCU&S).
-
In 2008, this changed again to the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Officials (HSCO) and in November 2013 to the Hertfordshire Association of Cricket Officials (HACO).
-
When the Association was formed its primary aim was set on encouraging residents in the County to take up umpiring and scoring regardless of their ability or background from beginners to those aspiring to officiate at club and league cricket.
